What is Biomimetics?
It is the abstraction of good design from Nature.
Robotic & MechatronicSolutions
Welcome
to ROBOTmaker
ROBOTmakeris a part-time
project run by a team of engineers, designers, makers and
artists with a passion to simplify the integration between DIY
electronics, micro mechanics (mechatronics) and kinetic art - we help
getting your innovative ideas into motion.
Located in Germany, on the boarders of Belgium and Netherlands, our
team specialises in the design, development and manufacture
of micro sized mechatronic platforms for University, College &
School projects, robot swarm projects, robot clubs and hobby robot
enthusiast.
We
understand that, for many, the idea is more important than the method of
accomplishing it.
We
are currently putting together configurable kits - complete with
mechanical & electronic parts bundled together with working code and
wiring examples; simplifying your project and the integration between
mechanics, electronics and kinetic art - helping you get your idea
into motion fast.
Our philosophy is to share
the results of our developments, to inspire budding ' Makers' into the exciting world of
mechatroncis, robotics, kinetic art, etc by using simple
kits, parts, ready-made electronic
modules, simple programming tools & step-by-step mechanical
solutions
We really believe that
making mechatronic 'stuff' should be great fun! - no
matter your age or skill level.
We sincerely hope we can inspire you to take up this
really interesting hobby.

Nano & Macro size Robot Chassis for robot competition and robot swarms soon
to be launched
A
limited range of Nano and Macro sized chassis will be ready for launching soon.
The
first chassis to be launched is a
Nano size chassis with belt drive and nano geared motors. These are suitable for robot swarms
or nano competition
robot.
A
special version of the Infrared Control Freak - Light sensor module has been
developed for the PICAXE
range of microcontrollers. This version is configured with a compatible
2400 baud serial interface, offering many new project opportunities
for one of the most easiest microcontroller ranges.
MegaBitty Controller
boards and Sensors - ideal for Nano-class Robots and Swarm
Robot Projects.
We
have joined forces with BittyBot to distribute the MEGAbitty robot controller and other
BittyBot products in Europe.

360
Degree Multi-functional Sensor - We have a new 360 degree programmable
proximity sensor - packed with many other commands such as ambient light
and IR communication functionality.
These sensors are designed to fit onto micro sized robots (e.g. 50mm x 50mm)
where 360
degrees of proximity sensing is required, such as robot swarms, research
and robot competitions. These
sensor will also have ambient light sensing capability and Sony SIRC IR
remote control functionality. See

Robot Swarm Project for Schools
We have now started manufacturing a range of micro chassis and complete kits
for school robot challenges. The aim is to create easy construction kits
containing all the parts required to allow students to gain skills with
mechanics, electronics, maths and programming. We have designed the kit so it can be easily assembled within the first technology
lesson. These are
tested using special development boards for the Arduino, Basic Stamp, PicAxe,
Megabitty and Organutan contollers.
We have also developed versions with grippers and
track-drives. The production range will include chassis sizes of 100mmx100mm, 50mm x
50mm and 35mm x 35mm version (picture above).

Development of
customised robot swarm solutions for your college robot project.
ROBOTmaker
can provide total swarm solutions
including customised robot chassis or special versions of our standard
robot chassis. We have our own CNC prototyping workshop,
were customised one-off designs can be machined according to your own specifications.
Our
CNC machines can machine small
batches of custom robot designs. The maximum size we can handle is
1000mm x 600mm.
Ideally
we'll need drawings in one of the following formats:
CDR - CorelDRAW
DXF
(RT12/LT2) - AutoCad
DWG
(2000) - AutoCad
PLT
- HPGL plot data

Autonomous
robotics (AR) are no longer restricted to the electronics labs but are now
regarded as serious study aids in in a wide range of other study areas. AR is
recognised as excellent tool for demonstration of concepts, theories and principles
in almost any subject, such as biology and biomimetics,
engineering, mathematical modeling and simulation.
