10001 Nano Chassis (Belt Drive)

We are pleased to announce a 'pre-production' beta version launch of this belt drive nano robot chassis.

Please note, that this robot kit is not a toy. The kit is intended for experienced robotmakers where considerable effort and additional skills will be require to complete the robot kit e.g. fitting (bending, drilling, filing, etc), electronic design, soldering and advanced programming (C++).

Designed for assembly, low-cost &  simple construction

We have developed a simple flat-pack robot chassis kit to give you a 'kick start' with your  robot swarm project.

This robot chassis was designed with large robot swarms (50-100) in mind. Large swarm robots need to be low costs, simple assembly and of course, easy maintenance as critical design criteria. .

The flat-pack construction enables us to manufacture the chassis in one piece,  reducing production time and assembly time considerably.

The  25mm x 25mm x 25mm nano chassis, is also suitable for nano sumo competition robot project. It can of course be used for any other miniature robot project.

Chassis designed for MegaBitty robot controller

The chassis has been specifically designed to be used in conjunction with the MegaBitty robot controller boards with a 20mm x 20mm fixing holes pitch (see drawing for details).

To maximise space and to simplify assembly by eliminating fiddly screw, simple tabs have been used for fixing motor, MegaBitty robot controller PCB and battery plate into position.

What does Pre-Production mean?

These chassis are manufactured in small batches and "made to order". This means that we collect orders for manufacture each week and run the production 1x per week for all orders received. This may mean that lead-times can take an additional 1-2 weeks before the chassis kit is dispatched. This enables us to provide you a chassis according to the latest specification at the lowest costs.

Complete Kits including MegaBitty and Sensors

The Chassis can is available as bare chassis kit with Nano Motor, wheel bearing and wheel rims, but also it is available  chassis has been specifically designed to be used in conjunction with the MegaBitty robot controller boards with a 20mm x 20mm fixing holes pitch (see drawing for details).

Ordering Nano Robot Chassis Kit

Nano Chassis

1 x Flat-pack chassis body for bending into shape with simple tools (see videos)
1 x Battery Support Plate

Wheel Assembly:

2 x Bearings
2 x Wheel Rims o Fixing Screws and Nuts

Drive Unit

2 x Nano Geared Motors
2 x Rubber Drive Belt

Optional

In addition to the robot chassis you'll probably need some of the following components, which you can add to the order at the same time:

MegaBitty robot controller (BittyBot) or other robot controller with 20mm x 20mm hole fixing

Acroname - BrainStem Serial Interface connector to program the MegaBitty or other robot controller. This is for controllers that have a TTL or CMOS output that needs to connect with RS-232 levels.

Proximity and line sensors

Additional (not supplied by ROBOTmaker)

Li-Po Battery (max 25 x 25 x 10) and on/off switch

Soldering iron and solder

In addition you will of course need various tools to assemble your robot chassis.  Tools for bending and assembling the robot (pliers, screw driver should be adequate) see instructions for full details.
