Robot Competitions & Events in Europe
ROBOTmaker is dedicated to provide innovative solutions for robot competitions. We are currently focusing on "autonomous robots" competitions or collaborative robot swarm games (e.g. tag) rather than the "robot wars" style of robot; which are normally radio controlled. We are undertaking our own development as well as distributing solutions from manufacturers of mechanical and electronic solutions. Robot Competitions events in Europe. Robocode Wiki - (strategy games) There are many types of autonomous robot competitions. The most frequently held competitions are the ones details below. Sumo Rules A robot must fit within a square tube of the appropriate dimensions for the given class:
The total mass of a robot at the start of a match must be under the designated weight for the given class.
Mini, Micro and Nano robots must be autonomous. Any method of control may be used, as long as it is fully contained within the robot. Robot operation must begin automatically, no less than five seconds after being started by the user. 3 kg Sumo Class robots can be remotely controlled (in accordance to FCC regulations, and regulated by ROBOlympics officials) Nano Sumo Competitions In desktop competitions one of the greatest mechanical design challenges is the Nano Sumo robot competition. The size of the robot is limited to 25mm x 25mm x 25mm. The most difficult aspect is to squeeze a suitable electric motor and gearbox in to the limited space.
Max Weight: 25g

Technology Innovation Centre, Millennium Point, Birmingham. http://www.tic.ac.uk/micromouse Professor Martin Smith, from Technology Innovation Centre, explains briefly about this event.... "... contestants build microprocessor controlled robotic 'mice' that must solve a maze made up of 16 by 16 square cells. The idea is that the robots should be better at solving the maze than real mice. Winning micromice are awarded solid brass cheeses. The World Champion Dave Otten from MIT will be visiting on Saturday June 19th to race his mice and present a Masterclass. The UK rules have additional simpler classes to enable school children to enter. These simpler wall following classes are intended for under 18 year olds, however a “Run what you brung” informal, open, demonstration period that could become a formal class if there are sufficient mice. The University of Central England hold the UK standard maze that Porf. Smith took on Tomorrows World, the Robot Olympics in Glasgow, BBC2’s Techno Games for four years. The event details are on www.tic.ac.uk/micromouse and there are some robot building hints and tips, list of parts suppliers, list of practical robot building books, images of robots and the brass cheese prizes etc on www.robot.org.uk " Cliffhanger at Techfest in India Details: Rules: APEC Micromouse Contest Details:
