Innovation Centre, explains briefly
about this event....
"...
contestants build microprocessor controlled robotic 'mice' that must
solve a maze made up of 16 by 16 square cells. The idea is that the
robots should be better at solving the maze than real mice. Winning
micromice are awarded solid brass cheeses. The
World Champion Dave Otten from MIT will be visiting on Saturday June 19th
to race his mice and present a Masterclass.
The
UK rules have additional simpler classes to enable school children to
enter. These simpler wall following classes are intended for under
18 year olds, however a “Run what you brung” informal, open,
demonstration period that could become a formal class if there are
sufficient mice. The
University of Central England
hold the UK standard maze that Porf. Smith took on
Tomorrows World, the Robot Olympics in Glasgow, BBC2’s Techno Games for
four years.
