What is Biomimetics? It is the abstraction of good design from Nature.

 ABOUT US

How it started

ROBOTmaker started up in Norway, based on the results of an extended hobby involving mechanical engineering, programming, electronics and robotics. The results that we produced were of great interest to fellow robotmakers, so it was decided to share the results by marketing our 'favorites' through this website.

Our products are still designed and produced on a part-time basis and the operation remains on a very small scale. This is is only sustainable by using available technology in a smart way and by building an International knowledge network of family,  friends, fellow robotmakers and working closely with research students, schools, colleges and universities who give professional input into the product design and production. We do this really only because we have fun and that's how 'robotmaking' should be.

European Based

Most of the development is currently carried out in Germany, in an area known as the North Eifel , which is the  German & Belgium "Naturpark". One great advantage of being  based in Germany is that it offers us access to one of the best engineering, development & research resources in the world.

Website Language

It was decided to establish the website in English to enable us to reach a wider audience.  It was written in English as it is our assumption is that anyone who is already working in Robotics would normally have a sufficient understanding of the English language to read the website.

The website is currently hosted on a .co.uk domain, but to reinforce a more 'central' European presence we'll be moving the URL  www.robotmaker.eu soon.

Our Philosophy

Our philosophy is to inspire students, hobby robot enthusiasts and any budding technologists into the exciting world of robotics and robot competitions;  using robot kits, ready-made electronic modules,  simple programming tools & step-by-step mechanical solutions.

We really believe that robot making should be fun! -  no matter your age or skill level.

We sincerely hope we can inspire you to take up this really interesting hobby.

Clubs, Schools and Colleges

We are happy to become your  'total solutions provider' for  Educational Authorities and Hobby Clubs. Our approach is to work closely with you to design and build simple,  'step-by-step' robot solutions for the class-room, research lab and even your  hobby robot club.

We can prepare complete 'student kits';  including all course material if required. We would be happy to discuss your latest projects.

Our slogan

We have adopted a slogan that  came from a toy shop in Bergen, Norway.

It was translated from::

"Vi sluuter ikke med å leke fordi vir blir gamle; ....vi blir gamle fordi vi slutter å leke!  "

it means:

"We don't stop playing because we get old; ....we get old because we stop playing !"

We thought how precisely this statement matched the average robotmaker ! ... so we decided to translate it and adopt it as part of the ROBOTmaker slogan.
